Walker is quaint northern Minnesota vacation town. Walker sets on the banks of Walker Bay of Leech Lake. Leech Lake is the third largest lake in Minnesota with an 112,000 surface acres of water. Walker was founded in the very early 1900's. Historically it was a logging/saw mill town but has a long history of vacation life including lakeshore camps, lakeshore cabins and lake homes.
The Walker community is constantly promoting year round activities and events. There is always something to do in Walker, Minnesota. There are numerous restaurants and great shopping in downtown Walker and the surrounding Walker area. Evening entertainment including music, dancing and karaoke can be enjoyed at favorite hot spots in Walker. Two major music festivals, Moondance Jam and Moondance "Jammin Country" Fest are held annually in the Leech Lake/Walker area. The North Star Sportsmen's Club of Walker host many special events. Their Wild Game Feed is a favorite. Downtown Walker closes their streets to host the Ethnic Fest each September. Cajun Fest is held at the Northern Lights Casino just a few miles south of Walker in August. The Fall Has It All 18 day long event is promoted by the entire Walker community. The Walker Sled Dog Races have become an annual being held on Leech Lake right in downtown Walker.
Walker offers Leech Lake world class fishing and fishing tournaments including walleye fishing, muskie fishing, northern, perch, sunfish and crappie fishing. Leech Lake ice fishing is a favorite of both Walker area residents and winter vacationers. Walker hosts the International Eel Pout Festival/fishing contest and Polar Plunge, held on Leech Lake annually. There are dozens of fishing guides familiar with Leech Lake in the Walker area.
For the golf lovers Walker has two excellent 18 hole golf courses, Tianna and Long Bow. Each has its own very different character.
Walking and biking trails are maintained around Leech Lake and the Walker area. The Yikes Bikes fund raiser is held annually to benefit the Leech Lake Area Habitat.
Leech Lake is a favorite for sail boaters. The Annual Leech Lake Regatta sailing event is held each August. Recreational boating, water skiing and tubing are enjoyed the entire summer especially in the calm waters of Traders Bay and Agency Bay of Leech Lake.
The Leech Lake/Walker area is a paradise for snowmobilers. Hundreds of miles of snowmobile trails are enjoyed by thousands of snowmobilers and maintained by the Leech Lake Riders Club.

Walker "City Park" offers a sandy public lakeshore swimming beach, public tennis courts and two excellent lakefront boat ramps with plenty of parking space. Walker "City Dock" offers many public Leech Lake docking slips. From "City Dock" to downtown Walker is just one block.
The brand new Chase Hotel sets in downtown Walker overlooking Walker Bay of Leech Lake. It boasts over seventy very upscale hotel rooms. Also offered for rent and for sale are beautifully done Condotels with complete living facilities including kitchen, dining, living room, bedrooms and baths. The Chase also has a wonderful restaurant with inside and outside dining both overlooking Walker Bay of Leech Lake. The Chase can hold conferences and has a wonderful full service Spa and an indoor swimming pool plus hot tub. The Chase even has its own two lane bowling alley.
The Chippewa National Forest surrounds the Leech Lake/Walker area and provides many thousands of acres of public land for hunters, hikers, cross country skiers, four wheeler enthusiasts, snowmobilers and fishermen.
